Basic Information Rajasthan
Rajasthan, the land of valor, is the place where you hear incredible stories of romance and courage – fascinating enough to seem a fairytale but real enough to have been a part of the region’s history. Today, there is no need for a Rajput warrior to charge on his steed into a battle for his kingdom, and women are no longer invisible under the "purdah", but the mystique of the bygone era lingers. Whether it is impregnable forts, the splendid palaces, the centuries-old shops and bazaars, or the silent dunes of the Thar Desert, every nook and corner of the region has its own story to tell.
When you are not “taking in the atmosphere” in silent communion with yourself, you can visit the bustling fairs and festivals. Watch the metal workers painstakingly create a fancy flower vase or ornamented bowl, take in the deft hands of the rural belles dyeing linen fabrics into an exquisite harmony of colors and patterns, or follow the nimble fingers of the local weavers knotting the famed carpets and “dhurries” of Rajasthan.
