Dungarpur, Rajasthan Tourism
Dungarpur nestles by the Lake Gaibsagar. Not a frequent stopover on the itinerary of the tourist, this little town has its good points, nonetheless. Of course, travelers approaching the town through the sandy patches of shrubs, rocks, and hillocks may choose to ignore the many attractions of the town altogether because of the town’s nondescript appearance. Dungarpur, unlike many cities around the world, does not advertise its charms loudly. Discerning travelers however, do find the place fascinating, and stay back a little longer than planned to explore the town.

The palace stands out thanks to its blue tinged façade. Made out of locally quarried pareva stones, the palace is a lesson in royal luxury and opulence. Of note are the carvings and murals on the walls, pillars, arches, gates and windows.
Udai Bilas Palace
Located on the shores of the Lake Gaibsagar, the Udai Bilas Palace houses a luxury hotel today. The palace looks out onto the lake, and the sight of birds flocking around the lake, as seen from the palace windows, is one of the more enchanting ones in Dungarpur.
Old Town
Of special interest is the old township of Dungarpur, dating back to the fourteenth century. You can watch the silversmiths at work here, and even purchase some items of jewelry if you like.
